U.S. Senator David Perdue (R-GA), chairman of the Senate Armed Services’ Seapower Subcommittee, joined The Camden Partnership at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base to discuss passage of the U.S. Senate’s annual defense bill, President Trump’s National Defense Strategy, and priorities of the Navy and Marine Corps, including on-time completion of the Columbia-class submarine at Kings Bay.

“As home to the Atlantic fleet of the Ohio-class submarine, Kings Bay plays an integral role in our national defense,” said Senator Perdue. “Last week, the U.S. Senate passed a critical defense bill that provides our military with the resources needed to regain readiness, rebuild the Navy and Marine Corps, and protect Americans at home and abroad. Specifically, we have secured on-time delivery of the Columbia-class submarine to be stationed at Kings Bay. Through the years, The Camden Partnership and coastal Georgia community have shown strong support for Kings Bay. I thank Sheila McNeill, The Camden Partnership, and Kings Bay for welcoming me to the base for this outstanding event.”

“Our military and our country are blessed to have Senator Perdue on the Senate Armed Services Committee and Seapower Subcommittee,” said Sheila M. McNeill, President of The Camden Partnership. “I am convinced that Senator Perdue will find the way to change how Congress manages the budget using his background as a CEO of Fortune 500 companies. His approach is nothing short of revolutionary. We all marveled at his grasp of the history of the United States and its allies. Understanding the past gives him great insight into the future. We were pleased to have our three cities and county declare June 28 as Senator David Perdue Day. With Senators Perdue and Isakson, as well as Congressman Buddy Carter, Georgia is in good hands.”
