AT&T, a leader in telecommunications and technology, has reaffirmed its dedication to advancing education and closing the digital divide by making a generous donation of $25,000 to the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Foundation. This contribution will play a pivotal role in supporting rural students in Bainbridge, Tifton, Valdosta, and Waycross in gaining access to essential computer resources and educational tools. Coastal Pines Technical College, Southern Regional Technical College, and Wiregrass Georgia Technical College serve these regions in Georgia.

"We are immensely thankful to AT&T for their dedication to education and their commitment to narrowing the digital divide in our state,” said TCSG Commissioner, Greg Dozier. “This donation will significantly impact the lives of rural students across Georgia, opening doors to educational opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. Through this partnership, we are committed to providing equal access to quality education for all our students."

The donation is a significant step towards ensuring that all students in Georgia, regardless of their geographic location, have equitable access to the technology and resources necessary for academic success. In alignment with AT&T's commitment to education and community development, this contribution will empower TCSG to address the digital divide and facilitate learning opportunities for underserved communities.

TCSG will utilize the $25,000 donation to implement a comprehensive program focused on bridging the digital divide for rural students. The program will encompass the following key initiatives:

  • Access to Computers: The funds will be used to provide students in rural areas with access to computers, enabling them to engage in online coursework and research from the comfort of their homes.

  • Basic Computer Skills Training: TCSG colleges will offer training sessions to ensure that students are proficient in basic computer skills, empowering them to navigate digital platforms with confidence.

  • Software Resources: The donation will help acquire essential software, ensuring that students have access to the tools they need for a complete and enriching educational experience.

  • Learning Management System (LMS) Support: The Learning Management System platform enables students to seamlessly complete coursework outside of the traditional classroom environment.

“AT&T is committed to fostering innovation and addressing the digital divide to create opportunities for all,” said AT&T Regional Director of Southeast Georgia, Gary Sanchez. “We are proud to support the Technical College System of Georgia Foundation by providing rural students with the resources they need to succeed in today's digital world. By investing in education and technology, we are helping to empower more students in Georgia."

This collaborative effort between AT&T and TCSG exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships in addressing critical issues such as the digital divide and strengthening educational pathways for Georgia's students.
