Atlanta Press Club Loudermilk-Young Debate Series Hosts State and Federal General Election Debates

The Atlanta Press Club Loudermilk-Young Debate Series will host General Election debates for U.S. Senate, Governor, Secretary of State, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner, Insurance Commissioner, Labor Commissioner, State School Superintendent and U.S. Congressional Districts One, Two, Six, Seven, Ten, Thirteen and Fourteen. The debate series will take place at Georgia Public Broadcasting (260 14th Street, NW, Atlanta, GA 30318) on Sunday, Oct. 16, Monday, Oct. 17, and Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022. 

All debates will be available for viewers to watch live on GPB.org and The Atlanta Press Club Facebook page www.fb.com/TheAtlantaPressClub.

Logistics: 

  • To ensure everyone’s health and safety, media will not be allowed in the studio during the debates but will be able to view the debates live from GPB. 

  • Media can interview candidates following each debate in GPB’s lobby.

  • Media are asked to request credentials by Friday, Oct. 14.    

All candidates who qualify to have their name on the ballot are invited to participate in the Atlanta Press Club Loudermilk-Young Debate Series. The complete schedule is below. Incumbents are noted with an asterisk. 

"Elected officials in an American democracy are expected to field questions from the media,” said Ken Foskett, Atlanta Press Club Board Chair.  “The Atlanta Press Club believes voters learn about a candidate’s readiness for office by his or her willingness to face questions from reporters in a debate.”

Interviews: Atlanta Press Club representatives are available to discuss the debate series by request.
