Meet John Solberg: Doing Life and Working with Former Foster Youth
Tuesday, October 8th, 2024
John Solberg, Vice President of FaithBridge Youth Opportunities, has seen firsthand how the Fostering Success Act tax credit program transforms the lives of Georgia’s foster youth.
FaithBridge, a foster child organization committed to supporting young people, works closely with Fostering Success Act, Inc. (FSA) to provide essential wraparound services—life coaching, financial assistance, and direct support that help youth overcome the hurdles they face after aging out of Georgia’s foster care system.
John shares powerful examples and success stories, like a student whose car broke down. For foster youth, it can be a critical financial decision that ends dreams of higher education just so they can work and afford transportation.
“If it wasn’t for Fostering Success Act, we would have kids who would have to stop their college career and figure it out in a different way.”
As a Georgia taxpayer, you can make a difference with zero cost to you through a dollar-for-dollar tax credit. This initiative ensures your tax dollars are directed to foster youth, empowering them to complete their post-secondary education and join Georgia’s workforce. It’s not just about giving back; it’s about securing a better future for our community.
“Every time you give a dollar, you’re subtracting a dollar from your Georgia State income tax,” Solberg said.
“For CEOs and corporations in the state of Georgia, this is an incredible investment in the future workforce. These are young people who again, are at higher risk of things like law enforcement contact and being unemployed. Now, you’re investing in their future, so they’re going to be the future electricians, the future plumbers, the future marketing professionals who are going to be employed in your companies here in Georgia.”
