Art Mural Welcomes All to Brunswick

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, February 6th, 2020

There is a beautiful, new—and very welcoming—mural in Downtown Brunswick painted by faculty and students of the College of Coastal Georgia. Jeff LeMieux, professor of art; Aurora Pope, assistant professor of visual art; Lauren Moyer, local artist and art student; and Jacob Billings, an art graduate of the College and local artist, painted the mural as part of the Brunswick Mural Project. The mural, which is located along Reynolds Street facing Richmond Street, was sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority and the Brunswick-Glynn County Joint Water and Sewer Commission.

The artists were presented with a check for their work on the mural by Matthew Hill, executive director of the Downtown Development Authority and Jay Sellars, director of administration for the Brunswick-Glynn County Joint Water and Sewer Commission.

The Brunswick Mural Project is an effort by local artists to develop a sense of community pride, belonging, and the creation of a healthy, thriving community through art. LeMieux proposed and designed the mural.
