Brunswick Sees All-Time Low Unemployment Rate

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Brunswick recorded an all-time low unemployment rate of 2.3 percent, down one-tenth of a percent over the month.  A year ago, the rate was 5 percent.

"We are continuing to see all-time low unemployment rates across the state along with job growth in all of our statistical areas,” said Commissioner Mark Butler. “The focus now is getting more Georgians into the workforce to fill these critical positions, particularly as we gear up for a strong holiday employment season.”

The labor force increased in Brunswick by 108 and ended the month with 52,557. That number is up 1,023 when compared to October of 2020.

Brunswick finished the month with 51,359 employed residents.  That number increased by 145 over the month and is up by 2,380 when compared to the same time a year ago.

Brunswick ended October with 43,600 jobs. That number increased by 200 from September to October and increased by 1,600 when compared to this time last year.

The number of unemployment claims went down by 39 percent in Brunswick in October. When compared to last October, claims were down by about 92 percent.

Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed about 518 active job postings in Brunswick for October.
