The Georgia Highway Contractors Association (GHCA) is sponsoring a job fair in the Savannah area this Friday, March 18 for those interested in a road construction career. The many ongoing road construction projects throughout southeast Georgia continue to fuel the demand for workers. The fair will take place from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, 175 Bourne Avenue in Pooler.

Fifteen southeast Georgia highway contractors are participating in the job fair as they gear up for their busy season which beings in spring with the onset of warmer temperatures. Contractors are currently hiring men and women for a range of construction job types and experience levels. The industry offers full-time employment, excellent pay and benefits, and the opportunity to advance. A heavy equipment simulator will be onsite for those wanting to experience what it is like to operate a piece of heavy equipment.

Across the state, contractors currently have hundreds of jobs to fill. With the recent passage of the federal Infrastructure and Jobs Act, the state of Georgia is expected to receive $8.9 billion to fund the repairs of roads and highways and $225 million for bridge replacement and repairs over the next five years, fueling a continued demand for workers across the road construction industry. See GeorgiaRoadJobs.com, a comprehensive website developed to educate prospective workers about the many benefits of a career in road construction. Website is in English and Spanish.
