The Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park is thrilled to announce the receipt of a momentous funding award of $922,000, generously granted by the State of South Carolina. The Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park, with this funding, will accelerate the development and completion of this essential historical site. They will use the funding to complete the park’s new Interpretive Trail, including resurfacing the pathways, adding interpretative panels, and QR codes for additional information. The park will feature exhibits, educational programs, and immersive experiences that shed light on the courage, resilience, and determination displayed by the people of Mitchelville during one of the most transformative periods in American history.
