Georgia ranks seventh among the states most interested in home additions, according to a new study.

Experts at Contractor Growth Network analyzed over 600 search terms for property add-ons such as home offices, home gyms, and more in each state across the United States. Search volumes were totaled per 100,000 residents to reveal the states most interested in home additions.

Georgia places seventh, with 10,831 average related searches per 100,000 people. Searches are high for terms relating to ‘home office’ as locals look to create the perfect environment for remote working, studying, and more. Georgia residents are also keen on developing a bar, gym, theater, and guest bedroom in their homes, with annual searches all over 100,000.

With 11,832 searches per 100,000 people, Delaware topped the study as the state most interested in home additions. With remote working becoming a staple of many Americans’ work schedules, residents in the state searched for terms relating to ‘home office’ the most, averaging 26,110 annual related searches. Home bars, saunas, theaters, and gyms also proved popular in the state, accumulating over 10,000 annual searches each.

New Hampshire, Virginia, Florida, and Colorado fill out the top 10 states most interested in property additions. Annual searches across these states are all above 10,500 per 100,000 people, with home offices, bars, gyms, saunas, walk-in closets, and even guest bedrooms proving popular topics among residents.

A spokesperson from Contractor Growth Network commented on the findings: “Homeowners across the country are still searching the internet for quality products and creative ideas to bring new life to spaces within their homes. While remote working has become a staple of many modern workplaces, people are still trying to perfect the ideal space at home for maximum productivity.

“It is interesting that many of the most searched home additions are leisure areas. Many Americans tend to be more interested in creating home bars, saunas, and theaters, rather than more practical spaces like guest bedrooms and even walk-in closets. With the absence of leisure spaces during the pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis, it seems that some are still opting to enjoy leisure time at home rather than spending money at bars, cinemas, and more.”
