Yesterday, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia ruled in favor of the State of Georgia in Coalition for Good Governance v. Raffensperger, granting summary judgment and dismissing the case challenging Georgia’s commonsense, pro-voter election laws passed under SB202.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger issued the following statement:

"The Court’s decision affirms the integrity of Georgia’s elections and upholds the state’s ability to allow every lawful voter the opportunity to cast a ballot. Since the passage of Senate Bill 202, Georgia has conducted multiple successful elections with record voter turnout, proving that election integrity measures and voter access can go hand in hand. We are the gold standard – no excuse absentee voting, automatic voter registration, and a minimum of 17 days of Early Voting. The ruling confirms that the plaintiffs lacked standing and that their claims were based on speculation rather than credible concerns. We will continue to uphold election security, transparency, and fairness for all Georgia voters."

The court found that the plaintiffs failed to demonstrate a credible injury from the challenged provisions of SB 202, including rules regarding election monitoring, ballot observation, and local election board oversight.

The ruling underscores Georgia’s commitment to maintaining strong election laws while ensuring that every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate in the democratic process.
