State Transportation Board Members Named to List of 100 Most Influential Women in Engineering

For the eighth consecutive year, Engineering Georgia magazine has named members of the Georgia State Transportation Board (STB) among the "100 Most Influential Women in Georgia Engineering." The annual list celebrates the impactful contributions of women leaders across the industry in Georgia. 

STB members recognized include (listed in numerical order by congressional district represented on the board):

Ann R. Purcell, who represents Congressional District 1 (CD 1) on the STB, was elected in 2013 and currently serves as chair. CD 1 encompasses Appling, Bacon, Brantley, Bryan, Camden, Charlton, Chatham, parts of Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Pierce, Ware and Wayne Counties. Prior to her election to the STB, Purcell previously served 18 years in the Georgia House of Representatives.

Cathy Williams, who represents Congressional District 2 (CD 2), was elected to the STB in 2023. CD 2 encompasses Baker, parts of Bibb, Calhoun, Chattahoochee, Clay, Crawford, Decatur, Dooly, Dougherty, Early, Grady, parts of Houston, Lee, Macon, Marion, Miller, Mitchell, parts of Muscogee, Peach, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Seminole, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, Terrell, Thomas and Webster Counties. Williams previously served as president & CEO of NeighborWorks Columbus, as an elected district representative on the Muscogee County School District Board, and as life director of the National Association of Home Builders, along with various leadership roles across numerous local, state, and national boards.  

Stacey Key, who represents Congressional District 5 (CD 5), joined the STB in 2013. CD 5 encompasses parts of Clayton, DeKalb and Fulton Counties. Key is currently the president and CEO of the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC) and serves on various boards, including the Emory University Center for Ethics, College Football Hall of Fame, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the Midtown Alliance. 

Emily Dunn, who represents Congressional District 9 (CD 9), was elected to the STB in 2011 and was elected as the first woman STB chair in 2015. CD 9 encompasses Banks, Fannin, Gilmer, parts of Gwinnett, Habersham, parts of Hall, Jackson, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union and White Counties. Dunn is the recently retired owner and CEO of Tom’s Amusement Company, Inc. and currently serves on the board of the Amusement and Music Operators Association. 

Dana Lemon, who represents Congressional District 13 (CD 13), was the first woman elected to serve on the STB in 2003 and is currently the longest serving board member. CD 13 encompasses Rockdale County and parts of Clayton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Henry and Newton Counties. She is the president of W.D. Lemon and Sons Funeral Home. She has been recognized by both the Georgia House of Representatives and the Senate for her public service contributions to the state of Georgia.  

In addition to STB members, Engineering Georgia's “100 Most Influential Women in Georgia Engineering" features five team members from Georgia DOT staff.
