Ameris Bank Continues Investment in Local Health Care with $200,000 Georgia HEART Contribution
Wednesday, April 15th, 2026
Ameris Bank has once again demonstrated its commitment to strengthening rural health care by donating $200,000 to the Southeast Georgia Health System Camden Campus through the Georgia HEART (Helping Enhance Access to Rural Treatment) Hospital Program.
The contribution is part of the Georgia HEART initiative, which allows taxpayers to redirect a portion of their state income taxes to eligible rural hospitals—ensuring those dollars directly benefit local communities.
“Programs like Georgia HEART give businesses a meaningful way to invest in the long-term health of the communities they serve,” says J. Brad Danowski, Market President–Southeast Georgia Coast Market, Ameris Bank. “Supporting Southeast Georgia Health System is not just about funding today’s needs—it’s about helping ensure that high-quality care remains close to home for years to come.”
Ameris Bank has been a consistent supporter of Southeast Georgia Health System, contributing more than $2 million since 2020. The bank’s impact extends well beyond the local level. As of March 2026, Ameris Bank has committed over $16 million to 25 rural hospitals across Georgia through the Georgia HEART program since its inception, reinforcing its role in expanding access to care, modernizing facilities and advancing medical services statewide.
Established in 2016 by the Georgia General Assembly, the Georgia HEART program was designed to address the financial challenges facing rural hospitals. By participating, individuals and businesses can apply their state tax liability toward a qualified hospital of their choice, receiving a 100% state income tax credit in return. Eligible businesses may also benefit from a federal tax deduction.
“This continued support from Ameris Bank makes a tangible difference in how we care for our patients and plan for the future,” says Christy D. Jordan, President & CEO, Southeast Georgia Health System. “Georgia HEART gives our community a powerful tool to directly impact local health care, and we are grateful for partners who consistently step up to make that impact possible.”
Funds received through Georgia HEART allow each participating hospital to address its most pressing needs. At the Camden Campus, past contributions have supported key advancements such as a Wound Care Center, 3D mammography technology, the ROSA robotic knee replacement system and most recently, the expansion of cardiology services—enhancements that bring advanced care closer to home.
