Future Nurses Invited to Explore Health Care Careers at 2026 Nurse Camp
Wednesday, April 15th, 2026
Southeast Georgia Health System, in partnership with the College of Coastal Georgia, is proud to announce the return of its annual Nurse Camp, taking place June 22–26, 2026. This immersive, hands-on experience is designed for high school students entering their junior and senior years who are interested in exploring a future in health care.
Throughout the five-day camp, students will engage directly with nurses and health care professionals across multiple specialties at both the college and the Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus. Participants will gain real-world insight through interactive learning experiences, including clinical simulations, behind-the-scenes hospital exposure and opportunities to observe patient care in action.
“This camp is about sparking curiosity and helping students see themselves in a meaningful and impactful career,” says Shannon Wainright, RN, MBA, director, Patient Care Services, Southeast Georgia Health System. “By connecting students with experienced nurses and real clinical environments, we’re giving them a clearer picture of what it means to serve others through health care.”
Lydia Watkins, DNP, RN, CPNP, CNE, Professor of Nursing and Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at the College of Coastal Georgia, emphasized the program’s long-term impact. “Early exposure to nursing can be incredibly powerful,” she says. “This camp allows students to build confidence, ask questions and begin envisioning their future in a supportive and inspiring setting.”
Enrollment is limited, and applicants must be in good academic standing. To be considered, students must submit an application along with a Nurse Camp essay by Thursday, April 30, 2026. Additional details and registration information are available at https://bit.ly/NurseCamp-2026.
The cost for the five-day camp is $250 upon acceptance. An enhanced residential option, which includes housing on the College of Coastal Georgia Brunswick Campus and all meals, is available for $550.
