Brunswick Unemployment Rate Drops for the New Year

Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson said Thursday that Brunswick recorded an unemployment rate of 2.6 percent in December, down one-tenth over-the-month. A year ago, the rate was 2.7 percent.

The labor force decreased in Brunswick by 792 and ended the month with 54,409. That number went up by 963 when compared to December of 2022.
Brunswick finished the month with 52,994 employed residents. That number decreased by 712 over-the-month and rose by 995 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Brunswick ended December with 48,200 jobs. That number decreased by 300 from November to December and rose by 1,200 when compared to this time last year.
In December, initial unemployment claims increased by 37 (35%) in Brunswick. When you compare December 2023 claims to December 2022, claims were up by 23 (19%).
